BREAKFAST lunatics have admitted they spread both sides of their toast with butter. 

A study found 2% of adults are fond of the habit, despite the mess it makes.

They are among a wide range of toast-spreading methods revealed in new research.

Others are known as “gliders”, who glide the knife over the bread for an even spread – something half of us do.

But a fifth of adults prefer “total coverage” by spreading all the way to, and including, the crusts.
