TELLY legend Tony Robinson is being urged to make Blackadder return for a new series by his former Time Team pal Professor Alice Roberts.
And Alice, who made her TV debut on the Channel 4 history show in 2001, wants a role for herself.
The Baldrick actor is signed up to present a documentary on the show tying in with the 40th anniversary next month, which will also see the pilot aired for the first time.
And Alice says: “I started out as a human bone expert on Time Team and it was such a wonderful series to work on.
“There was a real sense of camaraderie and mentorship – I learned an enormous amount.
“I’ve got a 13-year-old and a 10-year-old at home and we’ve been going back and watching Blackadder together, which is such a joyful thing because I absolutely loved it when it was on originally.
“Tony Robinson is fantastic at doing history but my god he’s a brilliant comedian.
End
“Bring back Blackadder as a series – I would love that, and to do a cameo after cameoing in Detectorists at Christmas.”
For now Alice has been exploring across one of the oldest train networks in the world for a new fourpart historical travelogue Ancient Egypt By Train.
