TERRIFIED tourists have been left sleeping in cardboard boxes as wildfires devastate the Greek island of Rhodes.
Thousands of holidaymakers have been evacuated to escape the inferno still spreading across the popular beach destination.
Many are sheltering in makeshift rescue centres amid falling ash and scorching 42C heat.
More than 30,000 people have been taken off the island by land and sea, with others forced to leave their belongings behind as they take refuge at other resorts. Holidaymaker Abi James, 26, and her family were among those left running for their lives when they saw flames approaching their accommodation on Saturday.
Abi was staying at the Princess Sun Hotel with her partner Darren and son Jasper.
