JOHN RYDER says being in the middle of rioting Millwall fans means he has no fear of facing Canelo Alvarez in the lion’s den in Mexico.
British super-middleweight Ryder has travelled to Canelo’s backyard to face the undisputed king of the division this weekend.
The scrap will be the Mexican star’s first fight in his homeland in almost 12 years, as he defends his WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super middleweight titles in front of up to 60,000 fans at the Estadio Akron just outside Guadalajara, where he grew up.
There is sure to be an electric atmosphere for the homecoming hero on the Mexican holiday weekend of Cinco de Mayo and Londoner Ryder has been brought in to play the villain.
But he arrives in Guadalajara in confident mood, with no concerns about the abuse he’s sure to receive in the build-up and on fight night.
