MARCUS RASHFORD has hit back at claims that Manchester United players “gave up” during their Anfield humiliation.
The United striker said the visit of Real Betis for the Europa League last-16 first leg tonight offers the perfect opportunity to bounce back after their 7-0 battering.
But while Rashford accepted that United’s performance against Liverpool had been disorganised and disjointed, he slammed accusations that players had downed tools.
“We didn’t give up, that’s nonsense,” he said. “We were unorganised, yes, communication was bad, yes, that’s why we conceded the goals.
“But it comes down to the fact that I believe everyone was trying to get back into the game that much, we came away from the team’s principles in and out of possession.
