• IN 2019, Volodymyr Zelensky was sworn in as Ukraine's president. The actor had played the role in Ukrainian comedy series Servant Of The People.

Zelensky then stood for the presidency with an anti-corruption stance, just like his screen character, and won by a landslide.

• CULT Apple TV sitcom Ted Lasso saw Jason Sudeikis as an American football boss taking control at an English club despite having no experience of footie.

Later in 2020, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds and actor pal Rob McElhenney took over Wrexham AFC. It sparked a flurry of Stateside interest in UK clubs from Yanks.
