Hammers accused of 'lack of respect' in Benrahma row

LYON have accused West Ham of “incomprehensible behaviour” and a “lack of respect” in a furious response after Said Benrahma’s deadline day move collapsed at the eleventh hour.

In a dramatic end to a quiet window, Benrahma’s hopes of a Hammers exit were dashed last night when the two clubs failed to get the deal signed off in time, despite agreeing an initial loan with an obligation-to-buy worth more than £15million.

West Ham were also still waiting this morning for confirmation on whether Pablo Fornals’s move to Real Betis has been ratified, with the Spanish club having a £6.8m offer accepted yesterday afternoon.

Speaking today ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Manchester United, boss David Moyes confirmed the hitch in Benrahma’s departure.

“It looks like there have been some problems with the paperwork at the last minute,” said the Scot, whose side drew 1-1 with Bournemouth last night as the window drew to a close. “I only learned about it when I came off the pitch.”
