Sunak may set election date for November 14, says top pollster

RISHI SUNAK may call an election for November 14, one of Britain’s leading political experts said today.

Sir John Curtice, professor of politics at Strathclyde University, believes the Prime Minister may fire the starting gun for the general election in his speech to close the Tory annual rally in Birmingham on October 2.

He made the prediction after Mr Sunak, right, put Britain on track for an autumn poll after all but ruling out one in May. Sir John told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “There is beginning to be a consensus it might be November 14. All the parties have decided to hold their party conferences rather early next autumn. The Prime Minister will end the Conservative conference on October 2. That might be the starting gun.”
