Cars, SUVs to become costlier from January

A 3-4% increase in prices, which will come into effect from the start of next month, has been announced by Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), JSW MG Motor, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.

Maruti Suzuki on Friday said that the company has planned to increase the price of its cars from January in light of rising input costs and operational expenses. "The price hike is expected to be up to 4% and will vary depending on the model," it said.

This will be the first price hike by Maruti in 6-7 months. It had selectively raised prices of the Swift and Grand Vitara models in April.
