INDIAN NAVY'S MARINE commandos (MARCOS) boarded a hijacked Liberian-flagged vessel in the Arabian Sea Friday and were carrying out sanitisation operations.
The Navy said its warship INS Chennai a Kolkata Class stealth guided-missile destroyer, it was on an antipiracy patrol - intercepted the MV Lila Norfolk, a bulk carrier with around a dozen Indian crew members, at 3.15 pm Friday. The crew members were said to be locked inside the citadel of the hijacked vessel - a citadel refers to a designated area in a ship where the crew can seek protection in the event of a hijacking.
