BENCHMARK INDICES HAD yet another stellar session on Monday with Sensex, Nifty, and several sectoral indices hitting fresh lifetime highs. The optimism was driven by positive global cues and hopes of strong corporate earnings growth in India, market observers said.
Sensex and Nifty gained 0.7% each to end the session at record-high closing levels of 74,742.50 points and 22,666.30 points, respectively.
Intraday, the Sensex hit a high of 74,869.30, while the Nifty50 touched 22,697.30 for the first time.
Monday's gains helped the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies top 400 trillion for the first time ever, as investor wealth rose by ₹1.58 trillion in a single day.
