NEW DELHI: A dip in wind speeds, coupled with increased moisture levels, led to parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) recording very dense fog for a third straight day on Saturday, resulting in visibility dropping to zero for much of the night.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast similar conditions on Sunday and has issued a yellow alert for dense fog, but has predicted that the visibility will improve starting next week.
Safdarjung, representative of Delhi's weather, recorded zero visibility for eight hours from 12:30 am to 8:30 am on Saturday, which later improved to 100m at 9 am. Palam recorded nine hours of zero visibility from 11:30 pm on Friday to 8:30 am on Saturday, which improved to 50m at 9 am.
