OBCs likely to dominate BJP's 1,918 posts of Mandal Adhyakshs
Hindustan Times Patna|December 24, 2024
In the organisational polls of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the OBC and Dalit factors will matter most while electing the Mandal Adhyakshs, as part of the party's plan to bring back these two politically important caste groups back into the party fold.

LUCKNOW:

The nomination process for 1,918 posts of Mandal Adhyakshs across the state was completed on December 15 in 98 districts.

The BJP has divided the state into 98 districts for organisational purposes. However, the election of Mandal Adhyakshs will be through consensus and not direct voting.

Now, the party has started the process to elect district presidents for which nomination process will be completed till December 31.

"The party is going all out to regain lost ground after its disappointing showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh. This poor show was primarily due to the shifting of OBC and Dalit votes to the Samajwadi Party's Pichda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak (PDA) formulation," said a senior BJP leader.
