BJP hits back, calling Kejriwal's promise a 'major deception'
Alok KN Mishra

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday made public a fresh pre-poll promise, announcing that if voted back to power in the upcoming assembly elections, his party will waive off all "inflated" water bills of domestic consumers in the Capital.

"The Delhi government provides 20,000 litres of water per month to all consumers in Delhi. Around 1.2 million families get zero water bills monthly. After I went to jail [in March 2024], I don't know what they [the Delhi Jal Board] did, but people started receiving huge water bills... People who feel their water bills are wrong (inflated) should not pay the bills. After the AAP forms the government again, we will waive off the wrong (inflated) water bills," Kejriwal said at a press conference.
