The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept all six regions of Madhya Pradesh, winning 163 of 230 seats compared to 66 for the Congress. In 2018, when the Congress won 114 seats compared to the BJP's 109, the latter did better than the former in three regions.

Gwalior Chambal 

In Gwalior Chambal, where caste and development were the main factors in this election, the BJP won 20 seats and Congress, 14 seats. In 2018, out of 34 seats in the region, the BJP won only five seats while Congress won 27 seats.

The important winners from the region were Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar from Dimani, and state cabinet ministers Bharat Singh Kushwaha from Gwalior rural and Pradyaman Singh from Gwalior city.

Among the candidates who lost, where state cabinet minister Arvind Singh Bhadoria from Ater constituency and home minister Narottam Mishra from Datia. Leader of opposition in the state assembly and Congress leader Govind Singh lost from Lahar.

Bundelkhand

In Bundelkhand, water and development were key issues. To woo scheduled caste voters, the BJP-led state government also laid the foundation stone of a Saint Ravidas temple in Sagar.

This election, the BJP swept the region, winning 21 seats and the Congress won five. In 2018 out of 26 seats, the BJP won 17 seats and Congress seven. One seat each was won by Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.

The region has six scheduled caste reserved seats. In 2018, the BJP won five seats and Congress one. This election, the BJP won four and the Congress two of the reserved seats.
