CARNAGE CRASH ON DASHCAM

GARDAI have obtained dashcam footage of the horror crash that caused the deaths of two students on the way to their Debs.

It is understood officers investigating the accident that claimed the lives of best friends Dlava Mohamed, 16, and 17-year-old Kiea McCann now have clear images of the car they were travelling in and the moment it went off the road and collided with a tree.

Sources say gardai have also spoken to witnesses who claimed to have seen the vehicle leave the road in wet conditions on the N54 in Legnakelly, Clones, Co Monaghan, on Monday evening.

It comes as the funerals for both girls are set to go ahead in Clones and in Dublin today.

The horrific crash, which saw Largy College students Kiea and Dlava die at the scene, also left driver Anthony McGinn and Dlava's sister Avin fighting for their lives in hospital.

Avin, 18, has since been transferred from Cavan General Hospital to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin - where it is understood she is being treated for serious head injuries.

Mr McGinn, 60, who is a friend of Kiea's father and is understood to have offered the teens a lift, remains in a critical condition in the Royal Victorial Hospital in Belfast.

Meanwhile, another passenger 18-year-old Oisin Clerkin was treated for nonlife threatening injuries and has since posted a picture of himself on social media of him with Kiea taken hours before the tragedy.

Her funeral is set to take place at the Sacred Heart Chapel in Clones at 2pm this afternoon with burial afterwards at Mount St Oliver's Cemetery.

Her death notice read that her "untimely death" occurred "alongside her best friend Dlava Mohamed," and that she is predeceased by her brother Jason.
