A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with murdering his mother in her home.
Billy Burns, 51, was brought to Killarney District Court to face the single charge that he allegedly killed Miriam Burns between August 12 and August 15 last year.
The body of the 75-year-old mother of four and grandmother was found at her home in Ardshanavooly in the Co Kerry town after what gardai described as a violent death.
Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, Detective Sergeant Michael Quirke said he arrested Burns yesterday at 12.45pm on Church Street in Tralee.
