LEO Varadkar said the Irish and British governments will have to sit down and create a “Plan B” if the Stormont Executive cannot be re-established by the winter.
He made the comments following meetings in Belfast yesterday with the leaders of the five main parties.
Stormont has not sat in over a year due to disagreements about the Brexit deal.
The DUP has refused to re-enter Government with Sinn Fein due to its dissatisfaction with the Brexit and Windsor Framework deals.
Speaking at Windsor Park, the home of Linfield FC, the Taoiseach said: “I do think there is an opportunity to restore institutions of the Good Friday Agreement, the Assembly and Executive, in the autumn.
