TRIBUTES poured in yesterday for a promising young footballer killed in a horror jet ski accident.
Wassiou Ayawe, 19, died after the craft flipped over in Lough Derg near a bridge at Killaloe, Co Clare.
It is understood there were two female passengers with him on the jet ski but they managed to swim to safety.
Gardai and other emergency services were called to the scene at around 5.30pm on Wednesday after reports of a male getting into difficulty in the water.
But the body of the teen, who was approaching his 20th birthday, was pulled from the water at about 7.30pm.
Gardai, the Killaloe Coastguard, Killaloe/Ballina Search and Rescue, and the Killaloe Fire Service were all involved in the search and recovery mission.
Wassiou, who played underage football with Limerick FC, was pronounced dead at the scene.
