Maciej Maik was thrown from his bike following the crash on Oldham Road in Ashton-under-Lyne last month. He is still in Salford Royal Hospital, and is set to be for months – hoping to be discharged ‘by Christmas’. During his time on the ward, Maciej, from the Holts Estate in Oldham, has had six operations and lost the ability to walk.
He is hopeful that he will get his mobility back, but is resigned to never fully recovering. To make matters worse, 22-year-old Maciej has lost his job as a baker, as he’s ‘not able to work for 12 months’.
