Man in 'critical but stable' condition in hospital after 'explosion'

A MAN is in a ‘critical but stable condition following reports that a car ‘exploded’.

Around 10 am yesterday police, fire crews and an air ambulance were called to the scene on Ladyhouse Close in Milnrow, Rochdale.

Residents reported hearing a ‘loud bang’ which shook a number of houses before seeing plumes of thick smoke. They then heard ‘extra mini explosions’ coming from the fire.

One man was injured during the incident and taken to hospital. He is currently in a ‘critical but stable condition, GMP have said.

Members of the public were advised to avoid the area on Saturday afternoon and enquiries are ongoing.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, one resident said she lives around the corner from the scene and were awoken by a ‘loud bang’.
