Tragic mum of three lost to 'silent killer'

Her family want to spread awareness of symptoms, writes Helena Vesty

THE family of a precious’ and beautiful’ mum-of-three who died aged just 39 are urging people to be aware of the signs of one particular cancer.

Former M.E.N. journalist Marie King has died after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Marie was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer in April which developed aggressively. Now, her family are doing everything they can to raise awareness of the _ difficult-to-spot disease branded the silent killer’

Her parents, Chris and Mary Burchill, said: Marie was so special to us, central to our close-knit family and she valued family above all else. We all spent the last six months by her side, heartbroken to see our precious girl suffer this terrible disease.

“We will do all we can to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, in the hope that further research and funding will help others.”
