Absence of major players hands stage to youngsters

PEP Guardiola would prefer to have most of his senior players available on pre-season, that is fairly obvious. But he doesn't.

And in the absence of his firstteam stars, Guardiola is looking for young players to step up and show him what they can do. That doesn't necessarily mean all of them will get promotions this season for Manchester City, but seeing them in a first team environment can only be beneficial to the players and also to their coaches.
