A COUPLE 'stranded' in Majorca after their flight was among hundreds cancelled due to an UK air traffic control glitch claim they are more than £1,000 out of pocket because they can't get a flight home until next week.
Private day nursery worker Ellie Richards, 20, and her boyfriend Greg Whittaker, 21, who works in HR, were due to board their flight home to Manchester on Monday night.
But, like hundreds of others, it was cancelled and the first flight direct flight home isn't until next Monday. The couple, from Denton in Tameside, say they've had to book an extra week in a hotel and are more than £1,000 out of pocket.
Ellie told the M.E.N: "It's nice to be in the sun for another week but it's also not nice because of the stress of it all, spending another grand and us both having to take another week off work unpaid.
"The stress has definitely calmed down but last night it was not nice because we didn't know where we were going to go. Then it was a lot worse."
