IT'S been more than a decade in the making, but Amir Khan's luxury wedding and events venue appears to be finally nearing completion.
The former world champion boxer received planning permission for the multi-million project in the Deane area of Bolton in 2013. But in the years that followed, it was repeatedly rocked by setbacks as costs spiralled to more than £11m.
Initial construction on the site was completed in 2015 but it has since been hit by delays and even damaged by a fire. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the venue, named The Balmayna, was preparing for a 'grand opening' and was said to be taking bookings.
Photographs of the site, however, showed the area around the three-storey, glass-fronted building blighted by fly-tipping.
