PEP Guardiola was 'locked up' to take over the Brazil national team in 2014 before moving to City, an agent has claimed.
Andre Cury, a Brazilian businessman claiming to be close to says Brazil negotiations, approached Guardiola during his sabbatical year between leaving Barcelona and joining Bayern Munich in 2013. He spent three years in Munich before joining the Blues in 2016 and will begin his ninth season at the Etihad later this summer.
"We had Guardiola practically locked up," said Cury, as quoted by CNN Brazil. "He wanted to come, he was on a sabbatical year, but to come to the Brazilian national team, for you to understand the greatness of the national team, he would come." That move obviously fell through, and the Brazilian FA kept Luis Felipe Scolari in charge for their home World Cup.
