A GOOD samaritan on his way to work who decided to intervene when he saw a delivery driver being robbed was brutally attacked.
The man was cycling along Rochdale Road towards Manchester city centre when he spotted two men cycling towards him. The pair - one of whom was Thomas Wimbleton stopped at a junction behind him before turning their attention to a Deliveroo driver riding behind him on an electric bike.
As the delivery driver got closer, Wimbleton and the other unknown man threw a bike at him, causing him to fall off his vehicle. Producing a large kitchen knife, Wimbleton and the man went to steal the bike.
Watching in horror, the witness rode his bike at the two robbers, crashing into them. In the ensuing scuffle, Wimbleton, 36, swung the knife at him, leaving him with a deep wound to his forearm.
