Andrew Vize was out for a walk with his wife Kathryn and their two dogs when they found her in Culcheth Linear Park near Warrington.
Brianna, 16, a transgender girl, had died after being stabbed 28 times in the head, neck, back, and chest, a jury at Manchester Crown Court has been told.
Two teenagers, both aged 16, known in press reports as Girl X and Boy Y, deny murder.
Girl X, from Culcheth, and Boy Y, from Leigh, cannot be named due to legal reasons. In a video interview which police conducted the day after the incident, played to jurors on the fourth day of the trial, Mr Vize said that in the park he saw a male and a female 'walking at quite a fast pace!
He said: "The man had a hood up and was partially obscuring his face with a hood. They weren't making eye contact and they were taking an odd route!"
Mr Vize said: "I got closer and I saw some stuff. I thought it was balloons or something. As I got closer it looked like a dummy, because it was an odd position.
