FORMER RACING DRIVER AND DOUBLE AMPUTEE BILLY MONGER HAS TAKEN ON A RECORD-BREAKING IRONMAN, BUT STRICTLY'S JUDGES HAVE HIM NERVOUS
Donning sequins in front of Craig Revel Horwood fills me with fear

IT'S been quite a year for Billy Monger but despite all he's already achieved, the former racing driver is preparing himself for one more challenge.

Billy has been announced as the final contestant for 2024's Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special on the BBC and it sees the double amputee testing himself in different ways to his record-breaking Ironman exploits in October.

The 25-year-old, whose nickname is Billy Whizz after the Beano comic character, is also contemplating competing at the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles after receiving royal recognition for his Ironman achievements from King Charles and Prince William. But he knows that Strictly will present a very different challenge to anything he's done before.

Billy says: "I've spent the last 12 months training 20 hours a week for an Ironman world record attempt, but the thought of donning sequins in front of Craig Revel Horwood fills me with a fear I've never experienced before.
