Horrors of knife crime hit home with 2 deaths

Knife crime is a national epidemic. News stories of blades being used to commit horrific, violent crimes country are all too common. But that does not diminish the shock of four incidents in our region in less than a week. Despite the efforts of police in tackling the issue, the victim count across the UK continues to grow. The battle facing cops is relentless.

Neighbours in Clayton, Leigh and Wythenshawe have this week watched in horror as detectives and forensic specialists flooded their streets following stabbings.

It began on Sunday evening. Police were called to Barrington Street in Clayton at 11.10pm. A man was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after, another man presented himself at hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are linked to the same incident, police said. Neither man has been named. No arrests have been made.
