Jake Anderson, 22, was one of two men who raided the man's home after ordering his granddaughter to get into his car.
After driving to her grandparents' address, the pair stormed inside and stole cash, cigarettes and a mobile phone.
The other man - referred to in court as Mr X - held the girl's grandfather at knifepoint during the earlyhours raid.
After later discovering that the girl had gone to the police, Anderson contacted her and made a series of chilling threats.
He accused her and her family of being a bunch of grasses, adding: "I'm going to burn yous out, you don't know who I am." At Bolton Crown Court, Anderson was jailed for seven years.
Prosecutor Eve Salter told the court that Anderson had known the girl for several months prior to the incident and that she and her grandparents had allowed him to stay in their home when he found himself homeless.
On July 24 of last year, the girl had been out celebrating a friend's birthday when Anderson sent her a Snapchat message asking what she was doing. She told him she and her friend were on their way to another pal's house for a sleepover. When they arrived at their friend's house, the girls saw a grey BMW parked up nearby.
