CAFE CUSTOMERS BEWILDERED BY MULTITUDE OF NOTICES

IT'S A SIGN! (Well...17, IT'S A SIGN! at least)

VISITORS to a cafe have been left bewildered by the amount of signs plastered around the premises, laying down the law on everything from dog ownership to food consumption.

The Hidden Gem Cafe in Heaton Park has taken a no-nonsense approach to rules, warning customers that dogs are not allowed, children must be supervised and only patrons can use the toilets.

They also threaten to ask anyone consuming outside food or drink to leave. Journalist Jack Fifield, 26, spotted at least 17 signs while visiting the garden centre where the cafe is based and poked fun online.

Posting to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Jack said: “Anyone know if there’s any rules I have to follow at this cafe?” In the comments, he then said he counted 17 signs.

Many signs repeat the same messages, including forbidding dogs on the decking area or inside the cafe and discouraging outside food consumption.
