A MUM has joined others in taking legal action after they fell ill during a holiday in Cape Verde.
Sarah Tootell, from Bury, is seeking answers after she was struck with a potentially fatal infection at a fivestar resort in the African country.
The 44-year-old mother went to Cape Verde with her nineyear-old daughter Halle on May 8 for a week-long stay. She is part of the 200 more people who have sought the help of Irwin Mitchell lawyers to investigate their case.
The firm’s lawyers now represent 1,107 individuals who suffered severe gastric illnesses at luxury hotels on the African island over the past three years.
The holiday was Sarah and her daughter’s first trip alone since she lost her husband over six years ago, and they intended to scatter his ashes during the break.
However, on their return home in the early hours of May 16, Sarah started feeling feverish and by the next day, she was suffering from severe sickness and diarrhoea.
