A MAN accused of murder has told jurors he is 'ashamed' of his actions after a barbaric attack upon a dad.
Michael Hillier has admitted shooting 38-year-old electrician Liam Smith outside his home in Shevington, Wigan, in November last year. He then poured acid on the father-of-two.
Hillier, 39, claimed that he and his girlfriend, Rachel Fulstow, plotted to attack Mr Smith in revenge, following an allegation that she was raped by him in a hotel room after they met for a date in 2019. She denies any involvement but Hillier has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He and Ms Fulstow, 37, both deny murder and are on trial at Minshull Street Crown Court.
