Andrew Hall, 59, went on trial yesterday accused of the murder of Geoffrey Ives in Heywood.
Mr Ives, 75, was found dead in the flat on Hardfield Road on Sunday, January 29, 2023, after a neighbour who had not seen him for several days raised the alarm.
Prosecutors allege that shortly before 10pm on Friday, January 27, Mr Hall, armed with a 'vegetable knife' and a 'trimming Stanley-style knife, went to the flat of Mr Ives and 'repeatedly stabbed him to the face and neck with force. He is then said to have got a taxi to an off-licence where footage allegedly shows him laughing and joking with the shopkeeper and other customers.
