THE family of a "bubbly, beautiful" woman have shared their heartache after she died aged 31 - just days after complaining of a headache.
Kirsty Hendry's mother criticised the care she received at Tameside General Hospital after an inquest heard claims that doctors wrongly dismissed her condition as being linked to drug use.
An inquest at Stockport Coroner's Court heard a number of hospital trust policies were not followed after Kirtsty's admission in April.
A CT scan was wrongly interpreted by a radiologist and evidence of a bleed on her brain was missed, a coroner heard.
However, the inquest was told it would not have changed the outcome for Kirsty.
Kirsty, a carer, suffered a burst brain aneurysm and bleeding in areas surrounding the brain.
The inquest heard she was "desperately unwell" when taken to Tameside General on April 3. The coroner said the severity of her condition did not appear to have been recognised by an ambulance crew called to her home in Dukinfield.
By that time, the inquest heard Kirsty had entered a 'vasospasm period, where arteries narrow and restrict blood flow to the brain, causing brain tissue to die.
But, giving evidence, her mother, Angela Hendry, claimed that on admission to Tameside, staff dismissed her condition as being down to cannabis use, mental health and illegal drugs.
