Constable Rashid Said, understood to be a former Greater Manchester Police special constable, has now been sacked after a finding of gross misconduct was made following a misconduct hearing.
His name has also been added to the College of Policing barred list.
A chief constable who chaired the hearing said she believed he used 'unnecessary force' and 'further' attempted to 'inflict unnecessary force!
PC Said, she added, had 'two occasions to make a different decision' and 'could have walked away' after he was pushed by a man.
The officer was employed as a constable by Cumbria Police. The misconduct hearing was held in response to events at a party in Bickershaw, Wigan, on May 7.
It was alleged PC Said 'assaulted a member of the public by aiming a kick at him whilst he was lying on the floor being restrained by others!
