ANGELA Rayner has unveiled major planning reforms as she sets out how Labour will build 1.5m homes over the next five years.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Ashton-under-Lyne MP announced new mandatory local housing targets, a review of green belt land and changes to the Right to Buy scheme.
She also promised to boost the number of social and affordable housing across the country.
Speaking in the House of Commons yesterday, the Labour MP, who is also the Housing Secretary, said that some of the measures she is announcing ‘won’t be without controversy’.
But she said the changes are need to tackle the growing housing crisis.
