CITY midfielder Rodri used his acceptance speech to thank his loved ones and provide an update on his injury after winning the Men's Ballon d'Or.
Rodri entered the ceremony as the favourite after Real Madrid remarkably chose to boycott the event. The Spanish club claimed they knew that their winger Vinicius Jr. was not going to win and this 'disrespect' was their reasoning for not attending.
This prediction proved to be correct as Rodri finished ahead of Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal to win the Ballon d'Or.
City team-mate Erling Haaland finished fifth. After winning the award, Rodri appeared to take a slight dig at Real by commenting: "Tonight football won," before paying tribute to his loved ones.
"I always said one of my key things is to improve every day," the Spanish midfielder explained.
