A YOUTUBE star has taken on a cafe’s eating challenge of chomping her way through a massive slab of French toast.
Leah Shutkever has more than 30 Guinness World Record titles to her name, having taken on more than 300 food challenges as a competitive eater.
She has now shared her experience of taking on the French Toast Challenge at Diggle Lock in Oldham.
The task at hand was to clear a 3.5kg – or more than half a stone – loaf of French toast stacked high with sweet toppings, all within 30 minutes.
Jamie Collins, the owner of Diggle Lock cafe on Huddersfield Road, said that the challenge came about after people started talking about their ‘normal’ sized French toast being rather large and suggested a food challenge.
With some spare bread left over, he decided to create a mammoth version of the dish using an entire Pullmans loaf, before topping it with hand-whipped cream, macerate berries, maple sauce, white chocolate and almond crumble.
