Sienna waits for greatest gift of all

LIKE most children, Sienna Smith can't wait for Christmas. But there's something she wants even more than a visit from Santa - a new liver.

A just 10 years old, Sienna has suffered liver failure twice and is currently in hospital waiting for a life-saving transplant.

Sienna, from Oldham, first began experiencing symptoms back in 2017 when her family noticed her skin had turned yellow after picking her up from school.

Her mum, Danielle Egerton took the tot to A&E where medics believed she was experiencing jaundice, a condition where the skin turns yellow because of a high level of yellow-orange bile pigment.

Sienna was kept in hospital overnight for observation but her health continued to deteriorate. Unable to pinpoint what was making her so unwell, the youngster was transferred to a hospital in Leeds.

There, her devastated family were told she suffering from liver failure and needed a transplant urgently - with doctors believing she only had a week left to live.
