A CITY centre street visited by thousands of shoppers every day has become awash with discarded chewing gum.
Market Street is now in the 'worst' state for grubby old 'chuddy' being stuck to the pavement that Coun Pat Karney has seen.
It comes weeks after the annual Christmas Markets came to an end, while shoppers poured onto the street every day in the run-up to December 25.
Coun Karney told followers on social media site X he was meeting town hall bosses to discuss the problem, as he declared 'war on chewing gum and the gum droppers!
"People are selfishly dropping chewing gum," Coun Karney told the M.E.N. "Why they don't put it in the bin, I've no idea.
"They're letting Manchester down, they're letting themselves down.
"Why would you do that? Why would you make our city centre such a scruffy place where you have to walk in other people's chewing gum?
"There must be about six or seven bins on Market Street."
