A DESSERT shop will be allowed to serve hot cookies and drinks until 4am - despite residents' worries it will add to 'layers of problems' in the area.
Insomnia Cookies, a US brand owned by Krispy Kreme, opened its first shops in Manchester in August 2023 - with branches on Cross Street in the city centre and University Green, on Oxford Road. Next Monday, it will open a new store on Wilmslow Road in Fallowfield to cater for the thousands of students who live nearby.
However, after being given planning permission for a refurbishment costing £250,000 which also allowed it to open '24/7, the sweet treat tycoon applied for a late-night refreshment licence so it could serve its cookies warm in the early hours.
