THE Trafford Centre is to get its own police station, the Manchester Evening News can reveal.
The owners of the huge shopping mall are paying GMP for a permanent presence.
Instead of sending a response from GMP's Trafford Division, there will be one inspector, one sergeant and six police constables based at the centre.
The idea is they will operate as a neighbourhood police team and that their designated office could be accessed by the public wishing to report any incidents.
It is hoped they will be a major deterrent to anti-social behaviour as witnessed in Manchester city centre's Arndale Centre, as well as crime.
Last month, a group of masked males were arrested after being found near the Trafford Centre with machetes and balaclavas.
