The Dane had failed to score in more than 1,000 minutes in the competition but his 82nd-minute strike completed an impressive 3-2 comeback for his side, who found themselves two goals down at the break.

His United teammates were ecstatic when Hojlund hit a first-time effort in off the post with Old Trafford erupting as the club's four-game winless streak came to an end.

Andre Onana ran up all the way from his goal to join in the celebrations while Fernandes was also seen in rapturous celebration after the ball hit the net. Speaking to Amazon Prime Video after full-time, Fernandes was asked about his delight for Hojlund.

"Not only for him, but because it was 3-2 so we really needed this," he said. "We know as a striker he needs to score goals. He's eager to do it.
