Young mum lay dead for more than 24 hours in man's bedroom

QUESTIONS surrounding the death of a young mum who paramedics believed was ‘dead for more than 24 hours’ remain unanswered.

Kimberley McAssey, from Prestwich, visited Ryan Sheridan’s flat after he began a conversation with her by text.

Rochdale Coroners’ Court heard Ms McAssey, 29, had consumed alcohol before the pair took MDMA (ecstasy) at his flat on Sherbourne Court, Prestwich. They had sexual intercourse, but Ms McAssey became unresponsive while in bed.

Mr Sheridan grew concerned that Ms McAssey had ‘gone cold’ by around 6am on February 20, 2021, but no 999 call was made for 30 hours. Concluding Ms McAssey’s inquest, coroner Joanne Kearsley recorded an open conclusion, noting that her cause of death ‘could not be determined’ due to her postmortem being affected by the delay to call emergency services.
