NEW DELHI: As cold weather settles over Delhi, pollution levels continue to rise, with air quality remaining in the "poor" category. Despite a reported decline in stubble burning compared to previous years, the city's air quality has consistently deteriorated, posing serious health risks to its inhabitants.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 277 as of 4 pm on Sunday. This places the air quality in the "poor" category, a worrying development as the winter season approaches. Of the 35 monitoring stations across the city, 14 recorded air quality in the "very poor" range, an increase from 11 on Saturday. The affected areas include major residential and industrial zones such as Anand Vihar, Bawana, Dwarka, Jahangirpuri, Mundka, Narela, Patparganj, Rohini, Shadipur, Sonia Vihar, and Wazirpur.
