The accident, which occurred late Saturday night, has left nearly 20 others injured.
The victims, hailing from Jaunpur and Pratapgarh in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, were travelling in a private bus that crashed into a stationary stone-laden truck on National Highway 30, around 25 kilometres from the district headquarters. Authorities confirmed that the bus, carrying around 45 passengers, was en route from Prayagraj to Nagpur via Rewa when the collision happened near the Nadan Dehat police station at approximately 11 pm. Sudhir Agrawal, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Maihar, provided details of the incident.
