Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a landmark two-nation visit to Poland and Ukraine on Wednesday, underscoring India’s growing diplomatic role in Europe amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The journey aims to bolster bilateral ties and contribute to the global efforts for peace in the region.
Modi’s visit to Kyiv, scheduled for August 23, comes nearly six weeks after his high-profile trip to Moscow, where he held extensive discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin on ending the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Ahead of the Ukraine leg, Modi’s visit to Poland, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 45 years, marks a significant occasion in the history of Indo-Polish relations. Upon his arrival in Warsaw on Wednesday, the Prime Minister expressed optimism about the visit’s potential to invigorate the friendship between the two nations.
“Landed in Poland. Looking forward to the various programs here. This visit will add momentum to the India-Poland friendship and benefit the people of our nations,” Modi stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after landing at Warsaw’s military airport.
The Indian community members in Poland gave a warm welcome to Prime Minister. Modi when he arrived at the hotel where Polish and Indian artists performed the vibrant cultural dance from Gujarat.
