Fifty years ago, four women used their voices as instruments to create soul-stirring songs with powerful social commentary. Sweet Honey in the Rock (SHIR) went on to become one of the most renowned a cappella ensembles in the world.

The WPCA is hosting an up-close-and-personal virtual experience with the ensemble from 7-8:30 pm.
Actresses/entertainers Phylicia Rashad and Kiki Shepard are co-chairs. Their presence heightens the excitement of this noted celebration.
"The music and message of SHIR has been an inspiration for me for a long time," said Janice Sykes-Ross, executive director of WPCA. "I first met and saw them perform on Princeton's campus back in the late 80s. They blew me away, and I have been a fan ever since.
